Roller & Ring Die Clearance Adjustment Guide for Pellet Machine

2026-07-20 16:14:08

Many biomass pellet manufacturers face problems like loose pellets, excessive dust, low output and severe mold wear.

The root cause is improper clearance between the pressure roller and ring die of the pellet machine.

The standard clearance between the pressure roller and ring die of the pellet machine is 0.1-0.3mm.

Though the gap is very small, it greatly affects production.

Too large a gap leads to insufficient material compression and dusty final products.

Too small a gap causes dry friction between roller and ring die, resulting in higher power consumption, easy blockage and doubled ring die wear.

All clearance adjustments must follow safety rules. Never adjust the pellet machine with power on.

Cut off power and lock the machine to avoid accidental startup and injury.

Loosen the pressure roller locking nuts on both sides, adjust symmetrically to prevent unilateral roller wear.

Rotate the ring die manually; qualified status means smooth rotation with no friction noise.

Test run with small material quantity and fine-tune according to pellet forming condition.
