Sawdust Pellet Machine Production: Matching & Moisture Tips

2026-09-21 16:10:32

A sawdust rotary dryer and pellet machine do not have to be purchased as a complete set.

If your existing production line already has drying capability, you can procure only the pellet machine for pelleting.

For new built production lines however, full set procurement or at least unified planning is strongly recommended.

The final moisture content of dried material directly determines pellet forming rate and finished pellet quality.

Mismatched capacity and inconsistent control logic between the rotary dryer and pellet machine will cause production issues:

either insufficient dried feed for the pellet machine, or excess dried output the pellet machine cannot process.

Working with a supplier offering a full scope solution for crushing, drying,

pelleting and packaging ensures better machine interface compatibility and well‑defined after sales responsibility.

Prior to pelleting, sawdust should reach 12%‑15% moisture.

Excess moisture creates loose, poorly formed pellets and material slippage inside ring die holes.

Insufficient moisture increases raw material friction, raises machine load and leads to surface cracking on finished pellets.

Fine tuning is needed according to raw material type, pellet machine model and ambient humidity.

Professional suppliers can provide installation, commissioning and technical guidance.

This helps operators quickly locate the optimal moisture range for their feedstock upon startup and reduce trial and error costs.
