The Forming Principle Of Biomass Pelleting Process

2024-04-18 10:34:52

Why can the pellet machine press biomass materials into pellets?

Like sawdust, it is relatively loose and will not form pellets when grasped by hand; straw powder is in powder form and will not form pellets when grasped by hand.

The pellet machine we are talking about only performs a physical extrusion process on it, and it forms biomass pellets. Why does this statement come from?

This requires us to first understand the forming principle of biomass pellets. In biomass-type materials, the cellulose component in it is fibrous. This component overlaps with each other. After the lignin releases its viscosity and fuses together, the mold pressure roller squeezes the material forward, and at the same time, there is a friction force on the hole wall of the mold tool. The friction force prevents the material from moving forward, and a two-way extrusion force is formed, which ultimately forms our biomass pellet. This is the principle of pellets forming.

In this process, it is because the lignin releases its stickiness that the pellets can be pressed and formed. In addition, sugar and oil are two relatively special substances in this ingredient. Both of them are helpful for the formation of pellets, because sugar and oil are both sticky in themselves. They do not need to be released and have their own viscosity.
