What causes pellets to turn black? How can pellet milling carbonization and blackening be prevented? (1)

Why are my pellet mill producing black pellets that are slow to discharge and hard? The blackening of pellets produced by a pellet mill is usually due to the following reasons:

1. Excessive die compression ratio: When pellets pass through the die, an excessively high compression ratio causes greater resistance. This carbonization process increases the calorific value of the pellet fuel, but it also reduces pellet mill output and increases die wear.

2. Overly dry raw materials: The same raw material, with varying degrees of dryness, will produce pellets with different shapes. Without sufficient moisture to increase fluidity during extrusion, dry grinding causes carbonization before forming, resulting in blackened pellets.
