Pellets often crack and break apart on a pellet machine for four main reasons:
Too much moisture in raw materials creates steam inside pellets. Steam bursts the pellets when they come out of the die of the pellet machine.
If the die compression ratio of the pellet machine is too low, pellets are not dense enough and break after cooling.
A wide gap between press rollers on the pellet machine makes pellets loose and cracked.
Feeding too fast on the pellet machine leaves hollow pellets that easily break.
