2. Extrusion molding (core step)
The pre-treated raw materials enter the pelletizing chamber of the pellet machine and are pelletized by the ring die (ring die with die hole) and the pressure roller (rolling component):
(1) Material feeding: The raw materials are fed into the extrusion area between the ring die and the pressure roller in the pellet machine, and the pressure roller rotates.
(2) Extrusion shaping: The ring die and the pressure roller of the pellet machine rotate relative to each other, continuously pressurizing the raw materials (the pressure can reach tens to hundreds of MPa), and the raw materials are squeezed into the die hole of the ring die of the pellet machine. During the process, the raw materials are heated by high pressure and friction, and the internal lignin (biomass raw materials) softens and bonds, or the starch gelatinizes (feed), and is compacted into a cylindrical shape in the die hole.
(3) Demolding molding: The cylindrical material is extruded from the other side of the pellet machine ring die, and due to the constraint of the die hole, a pellet prototype with a certain density and strength is formed.
