What factors affect pellet hardness in pellet mills? (3)

5. A slow or unstable pellet machine speed can cause pellet peeling and rounding to take too long, resulting in loose pellets and reduced hardness. Die wear can also reduce the surface smoothness of pellets upon exiting the die, preventing them from forming solid pellets.

6. The cooling time is generally 5-25 minutes. The greater the air suction volume, the faster the cooling, which is easy to cause cracking on the particle surface, resulting in reduced hardness and wear resistance of the particles and increased particle pulverization. The air suction volume is related to the diameter of the particles. The larger the particle diameter, the more air suction volume. Therefore, when cooling the granular material, it is advisable to adopt a method of small air volume and long time to ensure that the inside and outside of the particles are fully cooled and qualified cooled granular materials are obtained.
